At PTP Press, we don’t just look for books that can make us money or that readers will enjoy reading. We look for books that can make a lasting social impact and bring positive change to negative situations. Then, we create the tools that will support our authors and readers in achieving that vision.
Two Books: One Mission – To Motivate the Masses to Make a Positive Social Impact
The Price We Pay

Key Theme: Your voice is your power. Don’t let anyone silence you.
Dissent, Book 1: Acceptance

Author: John R. Kyle
Target Audience: Young, economically or socially disadvantaged men seeking purpose.
Key Theme: Empowerment comes through service to others and your community.
Support Our Efforts to Make an Impact
Our efforts to make an impact started with taking on The Price We Pay and building out B.E. S.E.E.N – a training program in how to address bias, its causes, and techniques to overcome it – along with R.I.S.E. U.P (learning how to talk about any topic in front of any audience), and Take the L.E.A.D. (how to engage in challenging conversations with other people.)
Now, we’re adding Book 1 of the “Dissent” series: Acceptance and its training program, Acceptance: Moving Forward, to teach people how to take the past poor decisions they’ve made and turn them into powerful positive potential for their future.
Supporting our campaign doesn’t just provide support to Black authors like Nikki T. Anthony and underrepresented authors like John R. Kyle, who might otherwise struggle to get published, they generate awareness of these important social issues and bring them out into the open for discussion.
Our Goal: Empowering Individuals to Connect with, Lead, and Serve Others
Six out of every 10 adults report feeling lonely. Those between the ages of 18 and 22 report the highest rates of loneliness – almost 8 out of every 10 members of this generation. Loneliness increases the risk of premature death by 50%. Men are more likely than women to report loneliness, but are less likely to seek help for it. – 49 Loneliness Statistics: How Many People Are Lonely by Mark Elias, May 23, 2024
There are serious physical and mental health consequences that stem from this rising epidemic of loneliness. “Loneliness correlates with subsequent increases in symptoms related to dementia, depression, and many other issues related to mental health, and this holds after controlling for demographic variables, objective social isolation, stress, and baseline levels of cognitive function.” – Loneliness and Social Connections by Esteban Ortiz-Ospina updated March 2024, Our World In Data
Simply put: Our young (13-17) and new (18-25) adults fail to thrive without the support needed to learn how to connect with, lead, and serve other people.
Training Young and New Adults How to Connect, Communicate, and Participate in Community
Dysfunctional communities create environments where people fear speaking their mind. Since they don’t feel safe talking to each other, they talk about each other. Misunderstandings grow as trust diminishes and suspicions increase. It takes training to overcome these obstacles. That’s why we pair our fiction novels with training programs to help them develop the skills they need to succeed.
Why A Novel Approach Works
According to an article in the Harvard Business Review by author Christine Seifert entitled, The Case for Reading Fiction, fiction reading increases empathy, theory of mind, and critical thinking skills. She writes, “One reason fiction works so well in the workplace is that characters, plots, and settings in foreign locales help anchor difficult discussions. The narrative allows participants to work through sensitive and nuanced issues in an open and honest manner. ”
It gives people a common language to use in discussing the issues they face. By stepping into the shoes of a character that isn’t like them, it can help them bypass the brain’s natural tendency to assume that everyone sees the world the way they do and show their brain a different way of looking at the same picture.
What We Need – and How You Can Help
In order to promote this work to the level we believe it deserves, we are seeking to raise funds to bring these books and the training programs we’ve developed to communities across the world. Our ultimate goal: 50 Cities in the United States and 50 Countries Around the World across the continents in 50 languages. Your sponsorship helps us spread this message far and wide.
